Michigan Week Kick Off Festival

The Gateway to Michigan, Sturgis, hosts the Kick Off Festival for Michigan. Friday night dinner at Sturges-Young Auditorium, parade Saturday at noon, dance Saturday night.

Owned by Kathleen Standard, Tree of Life is our newest business that had its grand opening on August 24, 2007. The shop offers a great variety of all things organic including the coffee, candles, personal care products, syrups and other food items.  The gift shop also carries books, music and hard-to-find Lake Art, a beautiful style of art using 3-D laser cutting technology.  Tree of Life is open Monday-Saturday from 7:00 am-5:30 pm.

Stray Dog Bookshop is involved in buying and selling used, rare and collectible books and selling espresso and brewed coffees. Bookstore hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. “Nicky’s Coffee Bar” is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. with its array of coffee, espresso, lattes and other treats. BOOK ADVENTURE

River Country Visitor's GuideExplore the history of the River Country the book The Legend of Chief White Pigeon and the Old Sauk Trail written by Rob Sisson and illustrated by Julie Davidson.  Both the author and illustrator are local residents, raised in the area on the legends and history of the local Indian tribes. 

This book is a tribute to the rich history of Southwestern Michigan's River Country.
